So I just used the first link that was mentioned in this thread. You put the vin in the far right text box which has "cargo id" in front of it. That gave me bunches of information including estimated arrival, ship name, and more. Hope that helps people who are just now using the tracking.

Yep. Can't use the vin anymore. Anyone else have this issue?

EDIT: I tried the old Canadian VIN and it worked but the newer ones from the LA Auto show didnt.

Oh, and I am wrong. They all come into Florida Jedi, and then they truck them all the way to Texas. Talked with the dealer. She told me my Little Red will be in around Jan 13th. By her computer, it has shipped. The tracking does not work for nothing now. So Vin is useless at this point.

Actually it does. Well, kinda. It still tracks the old numbers and you can email them and they will track it. I have been in contact with them and they will pull it up for you if the VIN dosnt work. Read up a few posts as to what box.

My dealer gave me the vin and the name of the ship. The track and trace worked for me! My baby is due in NY on Jan 8 and Baltimore on Jan 9! Anyone know how long from arrival in port before it gets to the dealer? (in Connecticut)

Apparently it only works for ships going to Baltimore.

You are looking at anywhere from 10-20 days at best. I spoke with the Custom's Manager when my smart arrived last month. What happens is the trucking company won't ship your smart until they have a full truck load of mixed brands for your area. With car sales being kinda bad - it can take a while.

My smart arrived in Baltimore on Dec 5 and it took until the 18th to reach the dealer. That was with me calling the Regional Manager and Dave Schembri.

Calling the smart 800 number is useless and the dealer really won't know anything until the car hits his lot. What I was told and turned out true was that if you watch the DDE, the first date is exactly one month off of your delivery date. (DDE says 12/15 for the first date, then your delivery will be very very close to 1/15.) A warning - the closer my car came to delivery the wilder the DDE will start to shift around, normally day to day... It's normal.

Just be patient and be ready. Trust me, I went through the same anxiety and it IS worth the wait...

Good Luck and Happy New Year!

Tracking mine now

My smart is on the Tarago, which is sailing up the channel to Baltimore right now

It's about 15 more miles and she will be docked ready to unload MY smart !!

My dealer (Indianapolis) says it's about 2 weeks to delivery from Balitmore.

The wait is ALMOST over !
