My smart arrived in Baltimore on Dec 5 and it took until the 18th to reach the dealer. That was with me calling the Regional Manager and Dave Schembri.

Calling the smart 800 number is useless and the dealer really won't know anything until the car hits his lot. What I was told and turned out true was that if you watch the DDE, the first date is exactly one month off of your delivery date. (DDE says 12/15 for the first date, then your delivery will be very very close to 1/15.) A warning - the closer my car came to delivery the wilder the DDE will start to shift around, normally day to day... It's normal.

Just be patient and be ready. Trust me, I went through the same anxiety and it IS worth the wait...

Good Luck and Happy New Year!
Thanks - This is getting very exciting!

My '09 Rally Red Passion came into LA Harbor and off loaded a week ago. Still stuck in customs and was due in today to San Diego. Now they are saying another week.

Not sure what the trip across the pond and through the canel took, but 2+ weeks to go from Long Beach to San Diego! What can I say? Ordered in November 2007, configured in August '08, given a delivery of 12/10/08...still waiting.

Patience...

KG

I seem to be all over the delivery map...First it was July, then downward...June, May, April, March, then for a long time they teased me with Dec thru Feb. Now that I am almost counting the days, it's back to possibly May again!!!! What the.....?????????? I know it's going to be my "fare weather" car, and in my area (Connecticut), we've had nothing but snow storm after snow storm, but, that's not the point! It's like dangling candy in front of a kid, but saying, "You can't actually EAT it, but, you can watch me hold it in front of your face!" I am getting antsy! There, I feel a bit better now!

What is the deal with customs? SmartHHO told me that the cars that have been coming in to Round Rock are coming in late because of customs. Is it so different this year?

The last few shipments was because of the EPA stickers were not on the cars. Not sure what is going on with mine. I have a date of 1/12/09 from dealer, but they still see it as not leaving the port yet. I am crossing my fingers that it left on Sunday and that I shall see it this week.

Canceled my reservation as I found out that no new dealers will be added for the next year or so and I am in Nashville Tn. Nearest dealer is 200 plus miles away

Oh bugger. Have VIN, dealer says it's coming into JAX so no tracking.. Dave S. sent me the famous '90 day' e-mail on 12/11/08. Hm. Don't I wish....

No car. No word on where it is. Guess I'll bug Allison or Amber when I go over there this Saturday for the party/show. It's not like they don't recognize me.

Who knows - maybe I'll have enough $$ by the time it gets here to pay cash...
