Changes after Reservation?

From what I understand, items like options on a car do not become firm until you are contacted by Smart prior to actual production. Besides options, however, can you still change the model (i.e. from a Passion to Pure or vice versa)? Is the resevation a placeholder for a certain model, or just a Smart car in general?

On May 6, 2007, I reserved a silver/silver pure. On December 15, 2007, I was given the chance to confirm a white/silver/red passion w/heated seats, theft alarm and smart sound system. And that's what I have.
If changes are made (i.e. 2009 or 2010 models: colors, options, price...) my understanding is that one will be given the chance to fine tune one's order (even after the configuration/confirmation process) or bail out.

Excellent. Many thanks. Actually I just received an e-mail from SmartUSA indicating that I will have the option to change model and options on the confirmation date. So... sounds like a decent way to do things.

I was told saturday that every 08 model is sold out, we will be receiving 09 or 2010 models.
