I read here that that stuff will kill your car, about as bad as that Dino oil stuff, the only oil that is good is that amsoil stuff, you never have to change it and you will get 100 MPG. Engine will last forever, and makes it go way faster.

Thanks , for the heads up, might go check our store

I rather doubt smart uses Amsoil....so what you're saying in affect is that the oil the MANUFACTURER uses is crap? Only "Amsoil" is good?

Who are YOU? An "Amsoil" DEALER????? OR maybe just a shareholder...

I teased the following email out of a smartUSA HQ official a while ago:

“Engines ship wet (filled with oil) from Mitsubishi to Hambach. Our test has been aimed at evaluating the consistency of using Mobil 1 versus the entry of the vehicles with one oil and then a switch to synthetic at the first oil change. Overall, we do not think this is a performance issue. We have just been interested in evaluating the alternative of using a port change as opposed to the much bigger challenge of changing the oil used in the Mitsubishi factory.”

Other email verified that all the oil used in the experimental port oil changes is Mobil 1 0W-40. The writer did not elaborate why 0W-40 was chosen, but it makes sense when the cars at the VPC could go to any climate in the country.

The email ceased when I inquired if the ex-factory fossil oil was intended by Mitsu to be a break-in oil. Anyway, it is pretty obvious that prior to the port oil change experiment beginning a few months ago, earlier cars were going to the 10,000mi/1-yr service with a Japanese fossil oil.

Which makes me feel just peachy for dumping it at 1000 miles. Great job Dave.

I changed mine at 250 mile to dino then at 1750 back to synthetic. Turns out good move on my part.
