Check My Math

13590 base MSRP
160 alarm
110 fog lamps
120 instrum
350 sound
850 lthr,ps,electrncs
15180 SUB

645 destination ?
948.75 Tax
40 Title
70 License

16883.75 G TOTAL

3293.75 OVER BASE

SO. My financure says he will only loan me MSRP on a new car. My assumption here is that MSRP=BASE w/o options. ANybody know if thats they way they do it. Ten years since I got a new car.
Other assumptions are the destination fine and the texas tax rate at 6.25 percent robbery.

It looks like you numbers are very close. Here's my "out-the-door" guess for a San Francisco, California purchase:

smart fortwo passion coupe $13,590
Comfort package 850
Anti-theft alarm system 160
Additional instruments 120
Fog lamps 110

Delivery, processing & handling 645 (?)

Total purchase price $15,475

California sales tax 1,354
California license fee 145
California tire fee 4
Dealer document fee 45 (?)

Grand Total $17,023

These figures are extrapolated from my last purchase, a Scion xA.

Scott

That sounds correct. That's why dealers have success adding extras and extended warranties with a hefty markup at purchase time. Within limits I assume.

My last auto loan told me they would cover only MSRP and not dealer markup. Stuff like options, taxes, destination charges were all covered in the loan.
