Clear coat chip

I just noticed there's a chip on my clear coat on my driver's side door. Looks like somebody swung their door open and hit mine. No other visible damage besides the small chip

That is why I was thinking of getting a non painted color. I will see what comes out for the 09 color before making up my mind

Does the yellow have a clear coat? I didn't think it did....

Did they end up taking away part of the plastic?

I didn't think it did when I bought the smart. But after washing my smart and saw that chip I can tell it's the clear coat. I don't think the plastic is chipped. Just the clear coat.

Could the plastic be clear coated on all of them to make them nice and shinny like we like our cars. Bling Bling....

I asked the dealer about this, and was told that all panels are clear coated, even if the color is in the plastic (black, white, yellow).

Good to know they are clear coated. The DW is now making me consider painting my long awaited yellow panels. I really really don't want to as I had something else in mind to break up the yellow.

Having the clearcoat should make painting the panels an easier process for prep work on shooting the panels a new color which I may reluctantly have to do. Thanks for the info.

I bought the paint set from Paul at RoundRock and repaired a scratch on my door with the clearcoat. I can't even tell where it was now. - sheureka

2500 miles and I already have two rock chips on the front. Being it silver, there are two little black specks. It bothers me... but with such a flat front end..
