Winding Road Magazine (see page 179) has implemented a Comfort Index rating system and the smart fortwo is in good company.

I'm more worried about the system that lumps ride and handling into one pot, when they are actually two factors meriting equal rating.

Rated separately, I would boost handling above 2, and might go so far as to drop ride down to 1. This would tend to hurt the smart, but it is what it is, a short wheelbase car with limited suspension throw.

Noise could easily be addressed by smart if only they would adopt the A-ten-uator rear mat. It cut the engine noise way down on our Passion coupe - money well spent.
