True. ... a few here and there, particularly up at the carpet/firewall location. (--check the deadpedal area, for example...you might also examine the pasenger footrest area--I can't recall all of the specific locales).

Anyway, several fasteners on my '08 (ordered '07) were not "snug". Simply turning them by hand will tighten then up. Avoid adhesives for this application, unless absolutely necessary.

MHLO, of course...

Engine Toupee now fixed

Went with Jetfuel's idea of some Loctite Red RTV gasket stuff and that did the job. After frequent runs in the car and then inspection (the insulation over the rear of the engine - not the removeable lid) it is holding to the metal. Spread a good bunch of it on your finger and smear it all over the metal to which the insulation is to be attached. Now the important part. You've got to have some metal clips much like you would use to hold paper together or clothespins or anything that will hold the insulation up against the metal. I ended up stuffing whatever I could find up against everything to hold it in place for 24 hours. And that did it.

I would think as a good "Commander", your FIRST concern would be to find your airmen on the Lost Planet before asking about added insulation for your smart........

True Big Panda true. But take note. I didn't add insulation. I only attempted to stop what I had from hanging loose over the rear of the engine.

Previously I mentioned that it had actually fallen over the alternator whose belt then made lunch meat of it.

i used small velcro tabs that i stuck to the metal part aboue the cover material... and got some eye hooks like you use to secure your pants like on slacks and such from a sewing supply place .. attached the velcro tabs to the hooks then hooked the edge of the engine cover material. seems to be working very well so far.

I stand corrected.....thanks Commander.

btw, I loved "Hot Rod Lincoln" so much that I literally wore out my "Lost in the Ozone" 8-Track Tape.

Before I read this thread I noted mine were quite loose, not even not snug. Might want to keep that in check, everyone....
