Another functionally illiterate American high school graduate. Remember when you had to know how to actually read AND spell at grade level to get promoted? Now people can't even be bothered to use SpellCheck......

Probably thinks "bling" is a real word. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

HAH! Go into a zippy-mart or fast food joint and give them change to get an even dollar back AFTER they have hit the "amount tendered" button and see what happens.
The manager will have you tossed out for trying to start a ruckus!

Wait until millions of tons of heavy metal batteries start showing up in our landfills in the next few years. It won't be long until all those poisons filter down to the water table like MTBE.

We have an infrastructure in place to recycle the detritus of the internal combustion engine, it took far longer to put into place that it should have, but it is there. Nothing of that sort exists for "high technology" waste, witness the troubles that junk computers have caused, add laptop batteries and we already have a problem. Then factor in the several hundred pounds of Lithium-ion batteries in every hybrid and now you have a crisis.

Does anyone seriously believe the battery pack on a Prius will last over 200k miles? The IC engine will, but the batteries will need replacement long before the engine is worn out. BTW, who will be paying for the new batteries and how much will they cost? All this should be added into the life-cycle costs of hybrids and electrics. As a comparison, my 1993 MB station wagon has just rolled over to 212k miles and is still going strong although it is on it's second lead-acid battery.

Didn't you know when a rapper takes on a stage name, our accepted English language changes in kind? It's not only "LUDACRIS," it's ridiculous!

There are quite a few Prius with over 200 000 miles.
Right now technicians are trying to estimate the actual. lifespan of the battery.
Here is a quote....

Toyota has a comprehensive battery recycling program in place and has been recycling nickel-metal hydride batteries since the RAV4 Electric Vehicle was introduced in 1998. Every part of the battery, from the precious metals to the plastic, plates, steel case and the wiring, is recycled. To ensure that batteries come back to Toyota, each battery has a phone number on it to call for recycling information and dealers are paid a $200 "bounty" for each battery

This is wrong.
The Prius NiMH batteries contain no heavy metals like a conventional wet cell battery.

Wow, that was pretty brutal. Poor guy voices a concern and is condemned for not spelling well. Good Lord! Some of us simply are not, nor ever will be great spellers, yes there is spell check but last I knew we were not getting graded in this informal social setting. Funny that you would blame American high schools as my boys attended, and yes they did all graduate, one is an excellent speller and the other not so much. Do I blame the school? Not at all, some of us have it some some of us don’t. Do you also imply that had this person attended high school outside the USA he would automagically (yes I realize this is not a real word but I like and I'll use it) be a perfect speller? Do you also blame a school if a student does not become an artist or musician? All our gifts are different. I’m sure you are not perfect in every way, then again perhaps you believe you are.

I have a Yahoo Group for fuel cell vehicles. It is amazing what is being developed; not just cars but also boats and planes.
