I love my cabrio. more fun per gallon(fpg)!
It seems to be less mpg with the top down, at highway speeds, which is expected due to aerodynamics.
Of course a hard top is much better than no smart at all!
Do what you need. It's nice having the option of putting the top at the exact amount open that you want. At noon I can open it just enough to see the sky but still provide shade for my happy head.
You can impress gawkers by secretly opening it from the remote!
I was all set to buy a hard top at the dealer, but in the final moments switched, making them fill out all the paperwork. I have no regrets but haven't made that first payment, which will be about $80 more a month.
But I think, had I bought the hard top, i would always wonder what I missed...
I've still got a pure reserved for next year, and I wonder if I will become a two smart family...

Just my .02, but some folks (myself included) are not into open top motoring. Just as some are. Get what you want, not what you think will resell or look cool. Again, just my personal opinion, not flaming anybody.

I'm one of the few who don't really like the cabrio. It's noisy at higher speeds especially with a little wind. Most of my driving is done on the freeway. I finally got a DDE on my coupe so will be looking to sell the cabrio soon.

Having a tiny car, with a big open space around you is so worth the $3K

It's not like members of a forum can decide this for you. Frankly, if the convertable was standard and a hardtop was extra, I'd pay for the hardtop, but that's ME. I don't ever sit in the sun on a hot day, because I find it uncomfortable and unpleasant. I have friends who will move a chair into the sun on a 95 degree day. They would probably get the cabrio...

Enjoy your car! Someday...

Any opinions on the convertible version?

It's the age old question and totally unanswerable - tho many have tried. (me included)

Gotta represent the Passion folks here. I've ordered a Passion because I'm just not a wind-in-the-hair kind of girl, myself.

Suze,
You're trading in your coupe for a cabrio and I'm trading in my cabrio for a coupe. We should have just traded cars and been done with it.
