Could MHD be added?

If we get in US I was wondering if it was hardware or software that made function work and if we could add it to 08/09 cars.

Sure, how much money do you have! Seriously, the MHD has a different alternator/starter assembly (ChaChing$$), there are electronics involved to determine when the vehicle has stopped (CHaChing$$), there are electronics involved to determine when you have lifted off the brake and actuated the accelerator, causing the alternator starter to engage, to start the vehicle moving and start the engine ( CHAChing$$), the battery and electrical wiring would have to be over sized to accept the increased current flow on restart (CHACHING$$). Then, there would be installation costs!! SOooo, if it comes (or the climate looks like it will be distributed in the US), sell your gas smart and but an MHD, it would be cheaper. By being a member here, you'll know if it is going to happen well before the general public gets wind of it! Hang in there!!

If MHD comes to US I'm sure my car we depreciate even more being non-MHD. I think I'll just be stuck in the smart I have which is not a bad thing to be stuck too.

MHD isn't for every driving environment, but ment for heavy stop and go traffic conditions. Where I live it wouldn't change my milage, only add to maintenance worries.

That's a great point. Good to know. The less maintenance I have to worry about, the better. I drive mainly hway and rarely in stop-n-go traffic, so ok glad I don't have it.

If they can't add a factory alarm how could they possibly add MHD?
Besides the money you would save on gas, that would go towards the MHD feature- if it even was possible.

I guess aftermarket install OEM parts. Or complete aftermarket parts and install like the 'busa and 'tuki conversions.

Umm... why is there a MSG definition up there fpage77?
