CrossBlade on ebay

It's listed as a 1974 Smart Limited ... whatever that is.

The seller says he has a California title, but California doesn't recognize it and neither does Idaho? What?

Thought it was interesting, and thought I'd pass it along...

Smart CrossBlade

For whatever reason, the crossblade can't be registered in California (and apparently Idaho) for on-road use. You can basically register it for off-road use (including race tracks) or you can park it on your street with an advertisement wrap (subject to local ordinances). Not the most fun use of a crossblade imaginable.

WOW! That`s a bit spendy! For the price I`m sure you could convert a For Two, not that I would.

Darn I love this car. A perfect answer to the Ariel Atom. Would love to be able to have ours converted and street legal.

You can probably register it "illegaly". Find a totalled smart (there's at least one in CT), buy it from a junker. Grab the VIN plate and swap it with the crossblade. Go register it as a '08 Smart. Done.

Sadly, it's a trick car thiefs use ALL the time.

Agreed regarding the low, "race-car" like qualities. I was thinking more of the open-air feel of actually riding around the street in a go-kart, which I always fantasized about as a kid.

It would be cute 'toy'. But not for $35K.
