Curling carpet, anyone else?

Both of our cabrios have the same problem with the carpet on the passenger side lifting away from the floor in the area of the tire repair kit. The rugs used to fit (sorta) but now they are too narrow to be held down with the lip on the edge of the floor. We both have about a 3" gap that is very visible whenever the pax door is opened. This is on the right hand edge so it is very obvious since you can see the light grey foam underneath.

I am taking one of them in for the shifter inspection and lube tomorrow and will have it looked into, but I wanted to see if this is an isolated fault. Anyone else have this problem? Its almost like the carpet shrank in the month we had the cars.

I just vacuumed out my car this last Saturday and have not noticed it. I will look again this evening to see if mine is doing this. I have had mine since Jan. 26th. I'll report back once I look.

No problem on mine concerning that so far. Have had it for over a month now.

Sorry to hear about this situation. No problem for me either. Until you can get the situation fixed, try using the smart rubber mats and/or velor mats. Good luck, Regina

I am glad it seems to be isolated to our two. That makes me think they can fix things. I tried a set of rubber mats at the drive-up on Sunday, but the carpet is too stiff and the mats to lightweight to push the gap down.

Based upon my past experience with smart Center Universal City, they will do all in their power to make it right.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with such a dry environment there in AZ causing the material to draw up. Just a thought.

I don't know the cause, but the cars are in CA for another few weeks. They tried to use velcro to hold the carpet down, but the adhesive won't stick to the grey foam in the footwell. the carpet seems to either shrunk or shifted to the left of the car: there is about a 1/4" gap between the carpet and the black steel of the Tridon cell.

The upshot is that I have new carpet on order for both cars, smart Center Universal City lives up to my expectations again.

That's nice to hear. Kudos to Universal City smart!
