Daimler discounts Smart in US

Article in FT on Thursday discussing 1.9% 5yr financing offered, which is an effective incentive of US$1,100, or an 8% discount on a typical smart fortwo.

According to FT article only 661 fortwo models were sold in the US last month, a 66% drop in YOY sales.

Or you could pay cash and get an ever bigger discount.

How can lower interest rates be consitered discounts? WHen they are offering a year end clearance sale then we will be talking discounts. Got to get the 09's off the lots so we can get the 10's here.

A discount is a reduction in the MSRP or the actual offering price at the dealership. Reductions in financing costs are not discounts since the financing interest rate doesn't reduce the MSRP or dealer's offering price.
