Dash area durability

Smarties, anyone have an opinion on how well the fabric on the dash area makes out in the heat and sun.

Obviously a window shade is always a good idea, i was just wondering if the fabric is fade/heat resistant better than other materials used in vehicles.

Regards,

John

I'm concerned about the fading too. It will more than likely fade a little bit with my black interior fabric. I can Imagine Red will too.

Good question... I too have been wondering and going back and forth between the black/gray interior and red/black interior. Usually red pigments seem to be less resistant to sun fading. As far as durability of the fabric... that's a new one. I also wonder about dog hairs... my oldest dog (a sweetheart ex-therapy dog and purebred Pit Bull) sheds like a bugger. I use seat covers in the Miata that are washable and leather covers in the Jeep that are easy to clean. I still have to wipe down the dash as it gets covered with hair. How have pet owners faired with dog/cat hairs and the fabric dash and trim???

I'm not sure how durable the fabric is going to be. There is one problem that I see developing. when I open the door I tend to unlatch it and open it by using my hand to push it open about mid way back from the front of the door. I am noticing what appears to be some wearing of the fabric.as if there were a slight fuzziness starting to appear. So am trying to change my habit and we will see what happens.
