What is this button normaly used for?

Maybe our European Members can fill us in, like: is this the rear fog light switch?

I am thinking of useing it to switch a LED to light up the cup holder. Had my morning coffee ( before sun up) and could not see the cup holder

Yep, this really begs the question of why we didn't get the rear fog light on the US version (maybe the Canadian one as well?) Sure would like to have that but not willing to completely replace the rear lights to do it.
