Yeah I know, it's ugly but I only anticipate using it to get up the driveway, etc. There's another problem I'm anticipating in trying to use this built-in switch. Basically, I'm assuming the switch is designed to turn something on and is off by default but I want to turn something off that is on by default. I think I can do it with a relay by switching on a relay that will break another circuit. But I'll have to find the right relay blah blah blah. Also, it looks like the dash switch has an led already under it that would, in theory, indicate that I've shut off the fuse 11 circuit, but the button itself has no window for the led to shine through. Not to mention not having an appropriate symbol. I'm thinking that the alarm motion detection canceling button could easily be interpreted as an ABS/everything else shut off symbol if I could pick up a second one.

Okay, here I am talking to myself again.

In the instructions for wiring the dash switches, it states that the switch is a momentary action switch.

"Stick with switches shown above which are straight through momentary action switches."

Doesn't this mean that in order for the switch to constantly supply 12v that I would have to hold it in? That certainly won't work. I would need a relay that stays on once activated and turns off when activated again. This just doesn't sound right. There must be a solution. How would it work if I was just wiring up an extra set of lights? I think I must be misreading this.

Calling an electronics expert! HELP!

Okay, here I am talking to myself too.
It makes perfect sense: it sends a "next step" command to the appropriate loop in the ECU, or whatever chip controls the "lock", "unlock", "heated seat"...
I would hate to fiddle with those command lines. I would NOT fiddle with those lines even if I could! And not just because of the warranty, but because, being such a klutz, I would mess it up for sure.

There's just a little logic needed to press-on, press-off.

I think the off-the-shelf solution you might need is an "impulse relay" which integrates the single-switch controls into the relay itself. The one 12-V class part I find at my normal electronics supplier is kind of expensive:
Digi-Key - PB513-ND (Tyco Electronics <!--Potter & Brumfield--> - S89R11DAC1-12)

I'd first have to look through application notes to make sure it does what I'd want it to do at the desired voltages.

If you had some external logic instead, you could probably achieve the same result with less expensive parts. Getting that together is troublesome.

Well here's a thought that might explain how these work. Maybe the switching logic is simply in the switch bank circuit board itself. It would make sense to do it that way and it tends to support the simple wiring coming from each switch. Maybe the switch bank itself handles the on/off momentary press action. Easy enough to test by pulling the panel, hooking up a test light to that switch lead in the plug and see what happens when you press it.

I'll guess I'll have to do this and report back.

Right now I'm experimenting with some rear tires on the front. WOW, what an improvent! I can't wait to try them on the freeway and in the wind.

...the switches are straight through except for the heat switches..
...use the switch, to power the accessory of your choosing, for a relay and make the relay self-latching...

I had issues in finding a pin that would fit the plug and I also wondered if the switch is fused?

Search the web for a "Latching Relay"...

I agree with Jon_H, Digi-Key is probably your best source.

Also, try this... http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp
