Just a strange sorta question. I see some people have exact dates (like 5/12/2008 to 7/12/2008 for example) and mine just says Oct - Dec 2008. My question is this why the difference? Are people reporting from there dealer or are they reporting DDE?
Just wondering (sorry if this has been covered in other theads)

We're reporting the DDE. My originally kept changing and then finally locked in. Then I got a call from dealer mine will be here in 3-4 weeks. I'm hoping for a mid-June delivery.

My dates just changed from a "beginning of June to end of August" date to a little more specific but later. When I talked to the dealer here (Bedford, OH), I was told we'll probably know more (and sooner) than the dealer. As many complaints as there are about the estimator, it looks like it's still the only game in town.

i 'believe' that the difference is that your "Oct-Dec 2008" means you have NOT configured yet or you have and your car has not been scheduled for production. have you 'configured' yet?

once you have configured and your car is scheduled in production, you will receive a date more exact like the "5/12/2008 to 7/12/2008".

this is just based on the posts of others so again, just a guess.......

yes I have configured. Contacted smart made sure they have recieved my configuration. They have now its just the waiting game. The waiting game stinks lets find a better game!!!!

I did my config about a month ago and the DDE is Dec '08 - Feb '09.

i would think that you don't have a more 'exact' date because you might be getting 2009 models. since they probably haven't started production of them yet, it's difficult for them to give you a more specific date on the DDE.

make sense?

"Hauser", at least you'll be seeing yours within the next 8 months or so. my DDE says "Sept-Nov 2009"

Simply, there are too many variables to try to estimate production, hence delivery, many months in advance. Don't know what the exact cutoff, but I don't think you see 'exact' dates more then 90 days out. My guess, by July you should be seeing exact dates as well.

People told me it was because I hadn't Confirmed and configured (C&C). But that is just a rumor. I configured back in March. Just this month mine changed again. These were the dates.

Nov08-Jan09

then it changed to:

Oct08-Dec08

Last week it changed to:

2nd September to 1 December.

Why didn't they just say Sep08-Nov08. No reason given for the change, and it wasn't becuase I configured or confirmed. I hope it changes to Jul08-Sept08 soon.

Wouldn't it be funny, that they way it is input is just the data entry person perference and they love just messing with us?
