I GOT MY CONFIGURATION EMAIL TODAY!!!!!

Problem is, its been MOVED UP 9 MONTHS! I'M NOT READY!

Since October; the first month my DDE showed up; its been Nov '09 - Jan '10. Since I'm in Dallas, this was no big deal and what I expected. I thought I had another 9 months to a year to get my ducks in a row (finances).

Did they get that 3rd shift going at the factory? Or is this a big move up because of the new Ft Worth dealership opening. We'll have to see what happens to the DDE when I finish configuring.

This should be one of the happiest days of my smart life, but now I'm terrified I may miss it.

Anybody else get a big move up on their DDE?

Yep mine was due mid summer then back to the "your date cannot be ....." today I was invited to configure. I was hoping that it would stay summer or even move back a bit as I recieved an orphan in Nov. and thought my son may have a chance at my 09. Not sure that that will happen now

Mine has moved too far toward the present. It started at 10/09 to 12/09, which suited me just fine. It has moved twice, and now is 8/09 to 10/09.
I will call smart usa to discuss this, but likely will have to cancel the reservation and re-reserve.

This happened to me too. I was suppose to get delivery in August/September. (That is when my lease is up one of my other cars.)
I just ignored the configure request.

Seems to be that a lot of people have canceled and a bunch of us have moved up.

This was to be my second Smart (for the wife), but the timing will not allow this to be possible.

Maybe in September 09, there will not be much of a wait or you go down to the local dealership and pick one off the lot.

I really like my Smart and intend to keep it for a very long time.

Well, after a quick panic, I did a forum search for wait times from configuration. It seems the consensus is from 4 to 6 months. Here in Dallas that might be a little longer, so it looks like I may still get some time to get my finances back on an even keel.

Going back to school and having to pay for several home repairs has sapped my money this fall. So I am going to nervously wait for my new DDE, but I still can't wait until I get my cute little cab.

In talking to PP Smart in Dallas they said that when the Ft Worth dealership opened that the people living closer to Ft Worth would be moved over. Then the Dallas people would be moved up in line since a bunch of earlier people were gone over to Ft Worth. They also said that they get 40 cars a month and that Ft Worth would be getting 40 cars a month also. So they are not reducing the number of cars Dallas gets to feed the new store.

Yep, I went from a 1 1/2 year wait to about a 9 month wait. Didn't want mine yet either, oh well.

Looks like we are due to get our cars about the same time because your DDE history is the same as mine. Now if the date would just stop moving foward. Our smarts look like they will be roomates on the ship together,

HI, I am new here.

I reserved back in Feb/March of 2008. Originally the DDE for me was around now, about a 10 month wait. Then it did the we don't know bit, followed by Oct-Dec 2009. Which at first I was annoyed about, then the finances went south, so the delay was welcome.

Like others here, I have received my configuration email, but have not responded yet. I am going to call the dealership to find out if anything can be done to delay the build. All I need is a couple of months to get things back in order. I have to say that this reservation thing has been a bit annoying.

Well, I was hoping to find some information about the configuration to delivery times. I found it, and it does not look good.
