DDE Craziness

Until your dealer says it is on the boat, just relax and figure that the date that it will arive when the DDE settles down will be the middle of your DDE. That is the way most have had it. Grant it, we had a 3 month window, but it will be the same. They are not so Smart as to hide when our cars will show. But just keep looking at the middle of your date range. They move it to make it that way no matter what. That is why it jumps around so much. LOL

My daughter's was exactly the same. For several days now all I get is the same message you are getting. I called my dealer today, who last week said she was on a delivery list for April, says that Smart is backed up again and it probably will not be until the Fall. Might have to get her an Orphan as she leaves for school in early August.

my DDE is 3/11-6/09 and the dealer says I will get it mid April. Should get the VIN# by the end of this week. We will see how close they are

Just tried tracking. The car is crossing the pond now! After a few stops in Antwerp and Zeebrugue, the ship (Courage) left Southhampton 03/18/09 and is scheduled to arrive in Baltimore 03/29/09. :d

How do all of you get the VIN number? I asked my dealer who says my name is on the manifest for a boat coming to Long Beach March 30th. But they told me it was on the mainifest for March 15th too. I guess pirates got that one! But when I asked the dealer about the VIN number for tracking, they had no idea what I was talking about.

DDE? With all the cars currently available, it seems that surely one could find a smart ON THE LOT that would meet their needs and drive it home that day.

When my car was built, my dealer called. I asked for the VIN, and they gave it to me. If the car you configured is complete it has a VIN. On the shippers website you can get updated tracking information by typing the VIN where they ask for cargo ID. If the person at the dealership doesn't know what you are talking about, ask for someone else. Good Luck.

Yes I'm in the same boat. Had DDE of 2/09 - 4/09 and Now it can't be estimated. Email site and only get back pre-written email back. Contact dealer and they haven't heard anything yet. In January I got configuration email.
