DDE stopped working!

The DDE was giving me a date. Then I got the email to configure. Since I have configured I cannot get a date from the DDE.

Is this typical after you configure?

Yep after I configured, there was no date for a day or so, then it kicked my DD out to 2010 (Another year away??); I finally cancled, and went down to the dealer and found an orphan configured exactly as I had mine and bought it. The heck with waiting another year...

I confirmed in Jan, then I had a DDE of March/May..the last 2 most I have had the "Your DDE cannot be displayed"...oh well, I'm waiting..it's definitely worth the wait to get "skunk"!!!!

Like my dealer says: Take the DDE with a big grain of salt! It seldom reflects what is really going on . . . it's merely something to mess with your mind until the car finally is on the boat~!

My DDE has gone back and forth, and disappeared, so many times I only check it once a week or so. It's been a year now - thank goodness I found an orphan to fill up the time or I'd be totally nuts now . . .

Yep, that is the way it usually works. You get some generic dates that move about, sometimes creeping closer towards the current date (ie mar/jun, then feb/may, etc). Then, without fail on to the "cannot estimate." You could be there an indeterminate amount of time. I was there for 2 1/2 months. From there you should start to see 'real' dates. Mine were 5/23/2009 to 8/21/2009. I contacted the dealer to let him know and to confirm that they were legit. He called back a couple of days later and said he found an orphan exactly like I ordered sitting in port waiting for a buyer. Under the "Express Delivery" he asked if I wanted it within a week. I canceled my original order and now I have the purchase agreement in hand and am off to the bank tomorrow to get the money. I should take delivery next week. Wooo!!! Hooo!!!

I configured in Oct. for a Brabus. The date came up with Jan - March. Then, it disappeared. It was gone for 3 months and showed up about a week or so ago with May23rd to Aug. 23rd. On April 2, I got an e-mail from Smart saying it was within 90 days. I still have the same DDE. I called the local dealer. They had nothing. That was a week ago. Today the dealer calls me and says they expect it next week!!

So, don't put too much into the DDE! Now, time will tell if it is really here in a week!!

Debby, I think your dealer is probably correct. They have access to a listing of what is being shipped to them. They're supposed to notify you of your VIN when they're notified, along with an estimated date of arrival.

I, like you had nearly the same DDEs for my Brabus. I called the dealer, are these legit dates? He was clueless. A few days later on Apr 2 he called me back and asked if I wanted to take delivery of a Brabus orphan sitting in port with the same options I ordered. I acknowledged him and accepted his offer. I then canceled my original order. A week went by and the car is at the dealers now. I have completed my purchase agreement and have a check in hand ready on Monday or Tuesday of next week to pick her up and then -- yep "The Fun Begins!!" I have a number of aftermarket add-ons to order and install. Three important ones will be BPP air filter, Genius armrest & Area 451 Cruise Control.
