Dealer Distance

I have been thinking about the spread between owners and dealers. At first thought, distance comes to mind, but then would it be as-the-crow-flies miles or is it over-the-road miles? It is really more practical in terms of driving time. So I put up a poll (only five entries are permitted, and if an “other” is used it cannot be explained):
1. <30’
2. 30’-<1h
3. 1’- <2h
4. 2h-<4h
5. 4h+

The poll and its voting button appear at the top of the thread. Initially I’ll put this in “Smart Car General Discussion,” realizing that it may have to be moved.

We lucked out with the opening of Smartcenter of Louisville only about 5 miles away. Of course, I payed my dues with the my MINI, requiring a 90' drive to Cincinnati. Fortunately the MINI had no warranty issues that couldn't wait to the required scheduled maintenances, so a yearly trip up to Cincy wasn't all that bad.

Shouldn't you use miles instead of minutes or hours for this poll? I live about 25 miles from the dealership but it could take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to the dealership depending on traffic.

I had thought about it. Miles could involve something similar depending upon straightline distance or actual road distance. I think most people, like me, are most interested in driving time. There is no way that the poll can account for varying traffic congestion.

You could average the range of time and come up with 1h-15'.

Total distance is right about 30 miles. But with DFW traffic it can take 25 minutes to 2 hours. Always best to check the traffic report before going. Avoid rush hourS traffic. And keep tuned in to a radio station that gives traffic updates in case the situation changes. Took the back way home yesterday due to construction on the 408. With 2 lanes on some roads, stop signs, traffic lights, schools zones, and all that comes with taking the back ways ... it took over an hour to get home. That was better than the back up that was longer than we could visually see where it ended on the highway though.

Just added to the poll.
For me, it is about 233.01 miles and 4 hrs 20 mins accordingly to the Yahoo Maps and driving direction to get from Bemidji, MN to the smartcenter in Bloomington, MN.
So far, there are only two smart in Bemidji.
