Smart Center Portland

No dealer prep fee. There was a $50 doc fee. Pretty standard.

By the way this is one great dealership. They really did make me feel welcome and were a great bunch of folks to work with. Way to go Glen, Bryan and the rest of the fine folks at SCP!

I can not take any credit for this....but I completly support using these forums to keep owners, and buyers fully informed... We know PAG IB and the SmartUSA web site are worthless in this information flow

I think it is meaux61 as the nice person generating this list in another thread

These are dealer prep and not documentation fees? If so most places also charge documentation fees for handling paperwork and getting registration. Or is this number total dealer fees?

I believe the terms are interchangeable; just depends on the typical jargon in the area.

It can often depend if your state regulated the max 'doc' fee, if so then the mark-up types will come up with 'prep' or 'preferred customer' or other fees to glom on.

Mike and eqwalker I will add yours on my thread which I can edit. THANK YOU SMART for putting this here. These fees are any fees which are added on above MSRP, title tax license and destination charge. Smart centers are not supposed to add any fee above that according to smartusa. A doc fee or dealer prep fee or whatever you want to call it is just add on profit for the dealer. It even gets taxed in the state of Illinois. They know that it is not a real service but an addition to the price. Our Indianapolis smart finance manager was open and honest enough to share with us that the 150 fee that they charged was raised from 95 dollars because they have to put gas in the car and clean it and smart wont reimburse them.

My thread is called "Dealer Fees" and it is a longer list, including Tulsa and Portland. I just tried and could not get it to show up. I will try again. Maybe someone posted something nasty on it and it got ZIPPED.
