Dealers & Customers Beware: smart passion coupe broken in to at my smart center

I came to work this morning to find glass all over the ground and the driver side window smashed in. Not a good start to my Saturday at work...

The instrument cluster / speedo was detached and that was the only thing missing from the smart. The thief knew exactly what they wanted and what to use it for. My guess is that person had a Grey Market smart with the Euro instrument cluster / speedo and wanted to change it out with a US version.

After cleaning out the glass and the police writing the report, I tried to start her up and she will not start with out the instrument cluster / speedo attached to the harness. Needless to say I had to get it flat-bedded down to my service center... Did I mention this was all in the torrential pouring rain

Also, this smart did not have factory alarm as an option.

smart centers, lock-up your smarts and have security... I guess my security guard fell asleep

Hate to hear that! Glad I didn't want those pods on mine now. One less thing I have to worry about someone trying to steal.

Looks like they left the pods (which I love by the way ) and took the instrument clusters - I think you want those ;)

DUH........... They didnt steal the tach and clock pods they stole the instrument cluster

Danny, bad news about the break in; the good news is it looks like the instrument cluster is pretty easy to remove if somebody needs to do it. I'll refrain from any comments about LoJack, factory installed alarms and rent-a-cop security at this point.

Okay. Dumb blonde moment. Yes I want the insturment cluster. Read that and translated it into "pods" in my head.

I'll bet it will end up in some rice racer '92 Civic.

At least they were nice enough to unplug it and not cut the harness.
