Dealers's Fees refunded

I got a check in the mail yesterday from SMART of Dallas for $33.20 apparently refunded me either a portion of the doc fees ($50) or the vehicle inventory tax. They probably could have kept that and I would've never know. But just want to let you guys know that the dealership in Dallas has been very honest and customer friendly for the entire purchase process I've gone through.

Now I have money for a free tank of gas and lunch.

Great news, a honest dealer gives you hope. Big thumbs up. Can't wait for all the others to flow suit. ;)

Texas has a vehicle inventory tax??? Is that something that the customer should pay? What is it exactly. I have never heard of such a thing.

It's basically a personal property tax. The dealer has to pay taxes on vehicles on his lot based on what's in inventory on the first of the year. Should they sell a car throughout the year then that vehicle is excluded from the tax. I guess they had that amount built into the invoice and decided to be honest to refund that amount since they will not have to pay the tax on my smart.

Thanks. I fly all over the country in her. She is based at Robbinsville - N87. Getting a new engine now, so she is not flying.
