Deer hit my smart this morning

That is the bad news. The good news is that it seemed to mostly get the trid. The windshield is smashed and the side view mirror is gone and the airbag light is on.

Off to the body shop now......for the long wait for parts.

Lots of questions come to mind. Did the deer hit you, or did you hit the deer? Is the deer OK? We've talked about a deer/Smart collision in an earlier thread and I think you might be the first. How fast were you traveling?

Sorry to hear that but glad you are OK; will you need to have any of the panels re-wrapped?

BTW, one of the guys in West Virginia hit a deer a few days after picking up his car - had to replace one headlight.

Wow, sorry for your Smart & the deer. I think you're about the 3rd or 4th person now that has reported a deer strike. I posted pictures for one owner/forum member who needed help posting a while back, the pics are still in my gallery on one of the pages.

Are the deer intimidated by our cars? One came close to running out in front of me last week. I noticed my car with the quiet exhaust they seem to be more temped to jet out in front of me while the car that has a slightly louder exhaust they stay still or run for the woods. At this time of the year I normally see around 40-50 in the morning on a 20 mile stretch of road I travel. Very seldom does anyone hit one though. Our deer here are more like really big dogs.....most of them at least....others are a bit bigger.

I voted last week!!

The deer hit the smart.

The deer ran away but its face was in the windshield. I saw the face.
It left some deer hair (say that three times fast) behind.

I was traveling about 50. I had the cruise control on.

The sheriff said he already hit 3 deers this year in his sheriff car, and he gets 2-3 deer hit calls day.

Maureen
I just got off the phone with Kim Brainard at smartcarskinz.com and if the front quarter panel needs to be rewrapped, it can be done. There is a crack in the wrap, but I cannot tell if the panel underneath is cracked as well.
