Having trouble trying to sort out this delivery date estimator. Two months ago I got a configuration request message. After returning this I saw my delivery date finally become active. It showed mid summer, then last month it moved up to January-March. Now... it is back to "cannot estimate at this time"? The dealer shows no inbound.

Anyone have an idea what is going on? Is this typical? Car was ordered last September.

There is a thread in Delivery that has all of your answers, but pretty much, don't even pay no mind. The DDE is whacked out. It will move up and back and up and back. And finally, dealer calls saying you are X days out. but that does not mean that is locked in stone. Then, one day, the dealer calls and tells you it's hear.

I configed on Aug 26th, and picked mine up Jan 15th.

My DDE when I picked it up was Dec 15th - Feb 15th. So , just take the second Month and put the date in it. That gets you close. but it will move back and forth a lot. Just look in delivery, lots of info already posted though.

Don't worry yourself about the DDE. I ordered in Apr08, configured in Sept08 and the DDE was showing (in Late Sept) Nov08-Jan09 until it went all wonky and showed the "cannot be estimated" until about a week ago. It now shows Mar19'09-May18'09. And I got a call from the dealer saying that it would probably be in around mid-April. . .

Don't worry about your DDE

It's only an "estimate" at best.

I took delivery and my DDE was still moving around

How are those DDE Numbers sent to you? E-mail, letter? I configed in January, havent' heard anything. I know those numbers are rather arbitrary but it would be nice to have SOMETHING....

Cool, I found it. It doesn't have a number but it says August to October of this year for delivery. Thanks JPaul!

from there you will go to Can not be estimated, then have real dates. Someone could post the general meaning of the changes in the DDE but it seems to have a mind of it's own. I also think the dealer gets a weekly update on your car after it is 90 days out. I get a weekly update from the dealer which at this time is right in the middle of the DDE from smart. Dealer says 4/18/09 DDE is sitting today at 3/20-6/18
