Delivery Randomness

We have seen that some 1173s have not received their cars while higher numbers have.

In addition to dealers being ready, I think some of the delivery randomness is a result of the production process, and the availability of some components.

Looking at the serial numbers of early reservers - it appears that production does not closely match the order of reservation. All it would take is low availability of one component to push an order back further in production and the assignment of the VIN to be higher.

From my seat it looks like a dealer issue. Hartford has cars but so far 0 deliveries, they got twenty customer cars in the first drop the showroom still lacks accessories and the display chassis my car is sitting in the lot and I am waiting to take possession. The sales manager talked about needing paperwork, don't know what the problem is other than impatience on my part.

I am an 1180, and I know I took delivery prior to some 1173's...
here is my theory... Last on the Boat.. First off?
In reality, it may be a production issue, as in this week, the line did all blue/silver w/ comfort, next week all red/black w/o comfort, etc.

I know my car was offloaded in Baltimore mid December.

Dec 13 and still waiting

I think it's more tied to the volume of reservations at the dealer(s). The larger population areas seem to be getting cars sooner, although that doesn't seem to be the case for New York & NJ. Our little dealership in Louisville (ours only because that's where our car may eventually appear) doesn't seem to have anything but demo cars yet. Too bad not even the dealers have the inside scoop on this.

If I were you'd I'd start pinging smart usa by phone until you get an answer. I have a VIN but no car; it's still in Baltimore. E-mailed smart center Louisville yesterday asking them for status; got a reply saying they are trying to get info from smart usa. Penske & Co. haven't done the dealers or their customers any favors with their "close hold" information flow approach IMO.
