I agree that Smart had better get smart and bring the cdi to all markets in North America in order to survive. While they're at it, they could give us four easily purchased tires on four easily purchased common rims with a spare mounted behind a seat; and ditch the expensive key, add a simple reset button for the double wrenches and use a common oil filter, etc. Too much unnecessary proprietary stuff. Other than that, I like the car but wouldn't buy a second one without some common sense changes to make owning it more economical. At least you guys with the 451 got an oil drain plug! We 450 owners have to suck our oil out!

Chief, I don't know how many people wrote to him. I wrote twice, the first time I got a response similar to the one Dora reported in post #12. I was a little steamed at that point and wrote again, pointing out that although he didn't seem to be familiar with smarts, I am a smart owner and know for a fact that 69 MPG was a figure even the hypermilers only salivate over (among other choice things I let loose). He responded to that one saying he had changed the ad. That was two days ago. I didn't check to make sure he did change it. Good to know.
