As soon as you drive it off the lot, the value depreciates. I'd go with a discounted '09, especially since the 10 aren't out yet.

If you want to sell your car in a couple years, the difference in sale price between a "2 year old" and "3 year old" car may be greater than the discount.

If you want to hold onto your car for 5 years plus, go for the discount!

i was in the exact same situation three weeks ago. i ended up going for an '09 because:

$750 off sticker
the dealer gave some other accommodations
no significant differences for 2010
the car i wanted was available now

i'm driving it around!

smart center stevens creek, ca. most if not all smart dealers are offering this for 2009 model cash buyers in lieu of the discounted financing program going on now. and i got another $100 off for being a AAA member!
