Discovered something (snow and smart)

I have a 395ft drive way. This morning I went out to go to work and had 6-8" of snow on drive. I've had no problem getting out through this much snow before. But this time it was very heavy, dense snow on top of 1/2" of ice. Got stuck 5 times before I got out. Discovered something cool about the creep mode. I just left it in drive and got out and put my shoulder to the windshield pillar and it didn't take much to get it going and then jump in and give it some gas.(first time I've found anything I like about the creep mode)

But Curtis, You were dirving in the midst of a big spring snow when the plows were only doing main streets. It doesn't matter what you drive when you have to get over a couple of feet of "plow Dump". Well ok that may be the one time I would find a Hummer usefull but have always been able to aviod the couple hrs a year when I can't drive a normal car.

Ha, hahhh, hahh! That reminded me about a time I got stuck in the mud with a diesel pickup truck equiped with a manual (throttle), I set the rpm, put it in gear, popped the clutch and got out to push. It worked!

I live in NE Indiana and only defer to the Durango when my 1/2 mile long driveway has drifts higher than my Smart's bumper.

During the big ice storm this year, my Smart was one of the only cars still moving. Gotta love that traction control!

I was told by another Smart owner (who doesnt like computers) that a few bags of sand in the back makes a big difference. Might have to give it a try sometine. I guess my tool bag isn't heavy enough.
