Here in Michigan we watch the ditches. If you see one cross there are others not far behind. Drive slow with full lights especially dawn, dusk, and seasons when the hunters are in the woods.
I almost did your test yesterday. Driving to work at about 6:15 a.m. I thought I saw a deer cross the road an ask my wife who was in the car if it was a deer. Well no more the 2 seconds five more crossed. I miss the last one by about a foot. I live just out side Annapolis Maryland.
I would be more worried about a lightning strike than a deer strike. Or actually I would worry more about getting Rocky Mountain spotted fever from a deer tick (more ticks than deers) than hitting a deer. Why exactly is this thread happening? How about meteors hitting the the car? Or even more likely...paint balls.
