Do Mini drivers get asked if they'll survive a crash?

Seems I get a lot of questions about how safe it is. Just wondering if Mini drivers get asked the same thing.

Yes to a degree the safety issue is eventually brought up. I tell them about the crash test ratings and explain the car is built solid, being a heavier car than the size would suggest.

Got asked many times with my New Beetle. My brother-in-law, former CHP motor officer; when asked that while driving his mini would say "I hope not!" It's bike humor!!

Garage
Of course. Same with MG, Triumph, Sunbeams, etc. Driving a small car is looked upon by a lot of people as a really oddball thing to do. Just wave as you pass them at the gas pump.

I used to drive a Honda Del Sol (why did I ever sell that car?), and I told people it was safe. But, to be honest, it was made out of plastic and was so small, I knew it wasn't a very safe car. I told people it's so small and maneuverable, I would go around dangers (and I used to have to swerve around debris all the time on the DC beltway).

I feel much safer in a smart, knowing what I do about the safety features and being higher off the ground with a better view.

That's why I am going with a smart. I stand about 6'3" and I can't fit in most smaller cars, but the smart is very comfortable for me because of the high seating profile. It was what sold me...

No, never happened to me. While the MINI is smaller then most cars, it does has reasonable dimensions. I think the fortwo's appearance of a lack of a front hood is probably what sets most people off on the safety issue.

+1. No one ever asked me if the Mini was made in India, either.
