Do people flash their lights at you too?

I could not figure out why so many people seem to flash their brights at me driving around the city.....till my friend with a smart followed me and I thought he was flashing his lights at me.

My theory is that the short wheelbase in combination with the sharp cutoff on the low beams makes it look like you are flashing your brights, when you just hit a bump. The right type of bump that rocks the car (freeway hop) and is why I thought my friend was flashing at me.

This happen to anyone else?

No, it has to do with your headlights, they are pointed too high. There are instructions on the evilution site for making them lower. Its a SIMPLE < 5min task.

I had this happen recently and saw a previous thread about it, so I had the problem fixed when I took the car in for its 10K-mile checkup. I haven't had any flashes since then. And there was a thread that mentioned how you how you can fix it yourself.

thanks

I had seen the headlight post on how to adjust and had checked mine against a flat wall....the one I always use to adjust my headlights. They seemed ok, but I will lower them some more. I do think the way the car bobs over bumps and on acceleration, makes it look like you are flashing your brights too. I really thought my friend wanted me to pull over or something...funny.

My Honda S2000 had HID's with very sharp cut off line, much longer wheel base and properly aimed light and still pissed other drivers.
Some idiots kept their High Beams on in disgust so I simply returned the favor if no one was following them.

And don't forget our smart's fun way of letting you know it's changing gears. For some, those dips (e.g., the 1st-2nd gear change, especially before engine break-in) at night can make it look like the lights are flashing.

Your headlights are the brightest now they will ever be. New bulbs new reflectors even with proper adjustment they can make other drivers think you forgot to dim your brights.
Add the smarts propensity to porpoise when changing gear initially can be a bother to the people we share the roads with. Adjustment is easy and I think the lights are great.

being flashed with other than the headlights?

I gues it could be worse. They could be flashing other parts of their body.
