Does California Law...

Does California Law requires to install both front and real number plate?

I've never had my own car before, so I'm just making sure...

Since I really do not want to drill front bumper just for the number plate.

Seems to me most of cars running around have both front and rear plate

numbers.

If so...then, would it be possible just carry around front side number plate

instead of drill a holl and put it on a front bumper...?

Hello - You'll definitely need a front license plate in CA. Yet, as John has referenced in his post, there are ways to keep your front bumper pure. I wouldn't recommend the dashboard, or to keep it "handy" for when the police pull you over.

The dashboard and "handy" aren't the front of the car. For me, that was a ticket written to those who thought I should be out catching "real" crooks, or that I got the "wrong" car going 85 in a 55 thru town. Also a favorite to use to pull over suspected dopers. Don't draw attention to yourself.

Thank you so much for all your answers.

So I guess I have no choice but to put on front side number plate.

Hence I've purchsed no-hole number plate kit
from http://www.gominigo.com for Smart Car.

and these are the examples of picutures that were on that website.

And I like the way it is.

Again thank you all for your replies ^_^)

I think it would look better centered. does it have to be off to the side like in the pic?

"no-hole", means that the license plate frame uses the eyelet for towing and doesn't require non-OEM hole in the bumper.

Maybe some people will get two and have something funny on the other one.
