I agree! I find reasons not to drive the truck so I can drive the car! Sure, I can make that mega jumbo xyz fit in the car if I pack it just right....

Of course, I also have a gas mileage fetish. I look forward to stopping at the pump so I can see how little gas I used, if I can beat any of my previous records, so I can fill in my fuel log and update Fuelly, etc. Heck, I skipped driving the truck today, even though we had planned to make some stops, because I knew I'd be filling up the car on the way home.

I know, it's sick and I need therapy as I approach my 1 year anniversary and 21,000 miles.

No place to go

As I left the carwash I decide to "drive down the street" to let the top dry. When I got to the railroad track I decided to turn on another street and go see the new softball field.

Then (since the top was not fully dry) I got on the Interstate for the 70+MPH wind to really dry the top.

Oh my, the top is now completely dry so down it goes without even slowing down and etc, etc.

Arriving back home I noticed I had drive 146 mile just to "dry the top".

I love my smart and really enjoy driving even when there is "no place to go"!

The first three months I owned my smart I averaged 3,000 per month ... mostly "just going".

now that summer (and soon fall) is here, the smart is sitting on the wayside while the Boxster is stretching its legs. nothing like a factory center exhaust outlet to cure what ails ya!

I know the feeling. I bought my wife an RX-8 a few weeks back. Although I still love my Smartie, when given a choice, I go for some Zoom Zoom.

Best excuse - when you didn't walk the dog - take it for a ride. Anywhere!

I never felt any need for an excuse. I often go 'for a drive' with no particular destination. A pleasure I've missed for many years before my smart.

I had a letter to mail, and I could have just gone to the mailboxes in my townhome complex. Instead, I drove to the mailbox, dropped off the letter in the drive-thru depository, busted a super-tight u-turn, drove to the craft store looking for something I figured they wouldn't have (vinyl) and then picked up my mail hoping for notice of my new plates at the DMV.

Fun. I am much less efficient with my trips in the smart since I like driving it quite a bit.

Never quit loving this little car. Today a co-worker caught me taking a picture of him in the parking lot!

Well, the sunlight was just right and zippy got a new shade of lipstick.

Well since I've gotten my license recently, I'm making excuses to borrow the Envoy. It's not all that fun to drive it but the feeling of ultimate freedom to do whatever I want for the day is just satisfying enough...

And for some odd reason, I've been going to Illinois Beach State Park...Maybe because I've never seen Lake Michigan and it's just so beautiful and relaxing...

Wonder what will happen when I get the smart?

Oh, right Lake Michigan photo op!

I bought my smart intending to use it for play and putting around here and there. I wasn't gonna drive it to work cause there was no point. I got to ride in carpool for free! And I didn't want to rack up miles too quickly...
Well, needless to say 4 months after getting the car, I'm not taking the carpool..
