Does the SMART come with any included maintenance?

Does the purchase of the car come with any kind of maintenance included, i.e. oil changes, or anything like that?

The sales people said that you have to come in only once every year or 12,000 miles. Not too shabby. Its $80, but the 5K maintenance gets more expensive for my toyota.

It didn't in 2008, I doubt it will in 2009. The first maintenance interval in the Owners Manual is 10K miles. Everyone save for a hand full of "if it says it in the book..." folks are changing oil and filter earlier. The warranty is 2yrs/24,000 mi., which ever comes first. I recommend an old school break-in (you can find that posted on this forum) and routine oil and filter changes every 3,000 miles.

The only thing I have against that is this is not an old school car, nor are they using regular oil. So I think the old school ways are for hands on people who like to tinker. But I am not saying that there is anything wrong with any of that.

My first "FREE" oil change on my MB 550 CLS was only $220 for a few quarts of Mobil One and a filter. I'll be going back to the same service department when the smart hits 10K...

No, those would be cars from BMW.

1 year or 10K mile oil change (can DIY) and the cabin air filter.

Please explain what about the Mitz engine in the 451 is different? It's cast aluminum and the cylinders are probably sleeved. The rings on the pistons are a steel alloy and need to seat against the steel alloy sleeve. So, what's different about this engine?

I figured everything out today to change the oil myself, so I think I'll just do that.

So any changes that are done to smart, does that mean you loose the warranty for vehicle

No. Obviously, if you chip the motor or do some agressive performance mod it will but for the most part, everything talked about here is OK.
