Dog inside tripping the motion sensor alarm

Tips 'n Tricks - deactivating the motion sensor alarm so el doggo doesn't trip el alarmo..... (see pg 77 0f manual)

1. Take key out of ignition.
2. within 60 secs, push the top part of the motion antitheft alarm switch (center front panel - the picture with the jiggly car)
3. a steady red light will appear in the switch
4. exit car, leave doggy inside
5. lock car with key
6. antitheft switch light will blink rapidly for about 20 seconds, then decrease to a slow steady blink.

Here's the catch - you can't tell, once you have done this procedure, that you actually did it .... the aftermath is STILL a slowly blinking antitheft light. I am sure it is done so it looks like the vehicle is still protected.

Anyway, I tested it out with my daughter, asking her to jump around the car. no alarm sound. voila - hope this helps someone. our dog (yellow lab) is now ecstatic.

Hmmmm?

I was always taught that you are NEVER supposed to lock a dog in the car

Not if the top is down or the windows open. I still lock my car even though the windows are down, if anyone trys the door it rings. And my dog is happy to wait in the car, hanging his head out the window and licking and kissing the passersby.

Cool, thanks for the info - I didn't think about it because the last several alarms I've had have worked that way and am accustomed to disabling the motion sensor when I leave her in the car.

(And its fine to leave a dog in the car for a bit as long as it is not hot or in direct sun baking them - cool and shady with air and they are fine. Mine just happily sleeps tethered to her dog seat ).

Sorry - didn't mean to raise any dog lover ire. We are VERY careful about where and how long we leave our dog. but to not lock him in means anyone could open the door and steal him - he's so loveable he would gladly go withanyone if they say the "c word" (cookie)!

This was just to save someon the emabrassment of locking your dog in and the alarm going off when he moves.
