We were never told about it at time of delivery

This may be newly added recently? Also, did anyone of you had to sign a non export for the first 2 years agreement at time of delivery?

Not that I am aware of. I don't think the tire warranty is that new, it just seems that the dealers do not nec all have the same info (the finance guy was not clear on the extended warranty timeline either, said we had to sign up within 30 days?)

Anyway, if the tire warranty doesn't guarantee tires and rims in stock at dealers it seems I'm not sure its worth it

Specific to run-flats.. in my opinion.. they are evil. With no spare, maybe not, but day-to-day living with them paired with [legally] un-repatchable design (though most shops will attempt) was a giant bummer when I had my MINI. They ride horribly, are very expensive to replace and in my experience, were more prone to damage. I'd rather have normal tires with a spare. Without... well, that's the way it is, but I'd prefer a doughnut in emergencies.

Normally, I don't like to buy any extra insurance but this seems to be worthwhile with no spare tire on board. I'm delaying decision on the extended warranty because I was told I have until a day before the 1st anniversary date to purchase. The tire warranty has to be purchased at time of delivery. I hope I made the right choice.
Ditto, I did the same. I had ruined a new tire on my other car a month ago with a big old nail and it cost me half of what the tire warranty was for the smart.

I picked up my orphan this past weekend (Lincolnwood, IL) and was offered the road hazard warranty.

I was not aware that it existed and it had to be purchased at the same time the car was purchased.

I knew from reading posting here the potential for flats due to pot-holes. The dealer also did their spiel about the potential costs, and limited wide availability of the tires. I bought the 5-year warranty (I keep a car a long time).

At 25,000 smarts a year, by the time the 5-year warranty ends, 125,000 smarts will be on the roads. We might see 'smart monkey' chain kiosks at every mall, carved in one of the mall walls, facing mall parking lots.
