A Drive In Movie

Recognising that there aren't a lot of drive-ins still operating around the country I have this idea that it would be great fun to rent one out for a smart car night. Would be interesting to see just how many smarts could be parked in a drive-in versus full size cars and trucks.

Could arrive early for a get together and conversation then watch a first run movie together with the pop corn, hot dogs etc. A return to our youth.

It would be pretty tough to smuggle someone in like we used too in the trunk, also tough to smuggle in a few beers, and at some of our ages and the size of the cars we might need a chiropractor on duty if we decide to "fool around" at the movie, but I think it could be great fun!

Anyone else think so??????

Kwagar, you, my friend, are NUTS! But I like the way you think...
I have pondered the "foolin' around" thing too, but the wife just laughs at me. Hopefully, it is because of the size of the car!

cool idea for sure! however, the numbers are/would be limited to the number of the "sound boxes" that we used to hang into the car window. man, I grew up in drive in movie theaters. they were the coolest thing, IMO.

EDIT: yeah, the sound box thingies are form the time of Napoleon. Yes. ;)

Dude, our drive-in had an FM transmitter so you could tune your radio and listen without dragging that 18lb cheese-covered box with a knob-that-turned-freely-but-did-nothing into your car.
Man, we were UPTOWN!

"Hmmm...."

You know.... I could see it.
Back in your smart, open up the back end, fold the seatbacks to about 25 degrees forward, have some pre-cut foam to lay in the back, a few blankets, lay in the back and rest your head on the back of the seatback and enjoy the movie. For the cabrio's, you can open the top 3/4 of the way and enjoy the stars too.
I'm not sure how comfortable it would be... but it is an idea (whether good or not)

Your showing your age. I do not think any drive in's still use the old speaker boxes. Now you listen through the car radio. (Down side to DRL's)

I would be interested but distance will make this hard to pull off.

Wellfleet Drive-In on Cape Cod, Mass. still has the boxes ( and FM transmitter as well). The place is full almost every night in the summertime.
