Driver Door Rattles

My driver door has a rattle. Sounds like a loose latch or connecting latch rod. Any ideas? 4,000 miles.

This site bogs down my puter so I can't really look for it but, recently, there was a thread about a small plastic clip on the edge of the door that often falls off. I think it's on the "north" end where the door connects to the frame. Best bet is, open both doors and look at both sides and compare them: if you've got a plastic piece on the passenger door, but not the driver's door, there's your culprit.

Also, forgot to add: sometimes I think my passenger door is rattling, but it's just the metal clip on the seat belt bouncing off the side of the car. Sometimes I hear another rattle and it's just the sun visor, or it's the dash itself. I've noticed the car rattles a lot more when it's cold, like this morning (in the single digits in RI). Also, because of the small stiff frame and short wheelbase, the entire contraption tends to rattle when you go over a bump (which, for a Smart, means anything bigger than a piece of gum, LOL).
