That's because he removed fuse 11. That disables the ESP and causes your gauges to become a Christmas tree.

Oh jwight, now I know I came to the right place! You answered my question about driving in snow and the yellow triangle light coming on. So it's the traction control that was giving me trouble. I worried it was my transmission slipping.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Glad you found SCOA, just in time for the big snow. The smart has so many computer controlled systems on it that it takes some getting used to. The electronic stability program (which includes ABS) will keep the car going as long as the tires can get traction - just expect to see a lot of that flashing yellow triangle. Find a big empty parking lot and go play around with the car - tons of fun in the snow!

Navigate-able, but only just.

The toughest part is to switch from a 4wd to a smart. they don't handle the same, and with a 4x4 you can power through a deep snow, using the tires spinning to clear a path. With a rear whel drive, that doesn't work too well. It just pushes you sideways. don't have snow tires, I don't have anywhere to store them and since we only get maybe 3 or 4 good snowfalls a year, I just can't justify them in my mind. I do have a larger Expedition that I use for hauling people and trailers so I use that when and if it snows. I guess I could put the smart on the rear seat as a sort of life raft...
