The toughest part is to switch from a 4wd to a smart. they don't handle the same, and with a 4x4 you can power through a deep snow, using the tires spinning to clear a path. With a rear whel drive, that doesn't work too well. It just pushes you sideways. don't have snow tires, I don't have anywhere to store them and since we only get maybe 3 or 4 good snowfalls a year, I just can't justify them in my mind. I do have a larger Expedition that I use for hauling people and trailers so I use that when and if it snows. I guess I could put the smart on the rear seat as a sort of life raft...
