DRL's n 09 Models

Had my 09 in for service today and got the instructions from them to activate/de-activate the DRL's. They said all 09's have the capability.

With the car off pull the headlight stalk back towards you as if you were flashing your bright lights and hit the lock button on your key remote at the same time. The istructions say you should hear and acoustic sound which I assume is a beep. To de-activate do the same thing but press the unlock button on the key remote. I could not get mine to work. The car was loaded with the latest software today to fix the gas gauge issue.

Someone want to try this on their 09 and see if it works. Only works on Smarts without the comfort package because of the autolamp feature.

I want to get this clear before I monkey with my car settings. If I understand right you are saying all 09 models can do this even if you didn't order DRL option??????????

Yes unless you have your 08 flashed with the latest software which I believe you will get a letter from Smart telling you to do just that in the near future. Jwight was with me today and we learned that over a 9 week period 08 owners are going to be told to bring their cars in for programming.

I'll go try it in a few minutes after I eat. I'll then call GEICO and them I have DRLs to see if I'll get any kind of discount.

Attempt = FAIL

I hit lock button and pulled back on the stalk and tried it over and over again in case I was out of sync and no beep. I was wondering if a car with DRL if you turned it on even at night if the DRL lights would be on but then go to normal mode when you turned on your lights. I got no lights on my car when I turned it on so no DRL for me. I hope others try or can input more as this would be cool to turn on.

Smart drls suck because they work just like saab. All lights on all the time. Bleh. My .02

An aftermarket drl module will be much better and it's only 30 instead of 50

I thought the brights were on all the time until you turned your lights on like for night use and they'd go back to low beam.
