You would have to have specific programming (software) loaded in your car either at factory or by dealer like I did to have that do anything.

This also works in the 450 cdi models sold in Canada (which all have factory DRL, in which all exterior lights are on). Turns them off, and on again......

I just tried the high beam stalk / lock thing. No luck here either. Its still good to know the dealer and upload the software to have DRL capability.

For many years, all new cars sold in Canada have been required by Transport Canada to come with DRL.

Surely for smarts in USA it's just a software activation of a universal, pre-programmed feature?

Now tell the truth.

You can get it done on a 08 as it's the same hardware on 09 it's just light 08 with paddle function.

My local dealer told me that the 08s with comfort package can NOT have DRL activated. Apparently, there is a conflict with the "auto headlamps".... Has anyone with an 08 and Comfort package been successful in getting their activated?

Comfort package that came with autolight and DRL is not compatible due to you having that feature. None of the 08 with confort and autolight or the few 09 with it can get DRL. They did away with confort package with autolight due to not being compatible with DRL.
