DRL's now an Option

Just looked at the configurator...besides adding a $400 increase in price, DRL's are now a $50 option for the SMART!

Good news - see, smart is listening.

Now I have to see if I can reconfigure and add the DRLs.

Might be like the fogs - factory turn-on only.

It's possible that smart offers it now because the European Parliament voted few weeks ago for mandatory DRL in the European Union starting in 2010?

Ditto!
I would think a call to smartUSA would be sufficient?

High beams for DRLs are plain stupid. It is not safe to blind oncoming drivers, and because of their brightness many drivers of cars with this configuration don't realize they are driving around at night with DRLs on and no taillights.

Besides, MB does not use the low-beam HIDs for the DRLs on any model I can think of; they use the parking lights.

Which configurator is working right now?
I need to see verification of this seemingly sporadic, option addition(cut/paste)
Are there any other changes other than +$400 MSRP?

800 smartusa says the configurator might be working late today-they implied that an e-mail still would be required to make any option changes (possible delivery delay)
