I have heard that the Smart Center Beverly Hills is a nice dealership

I got my orphan in the tampabay area by picking up the phone and calling the dealership ,they had one they way I wanted it with all the options I ordered ,was never on a list ,I called late satuday afternoon ,told the salesman I wanted the car ,he put a hold on it until the following wednesday without a deposit ,I went and picked it up wednesday night called the dealer on 2-16-08 was driving my new smart on 2-20-08

I think most here will agree that many Americans buy cars on impulse, and waiting a year for an impulse buy doesn't jive... couple that with the fact we're bombarded by fear of recessions and credit crisis and foreclosures, its no wonder that people are getting cold feet... Shame that we can't see through this constant barrage of fear messages... makes us weak as a country, as a people...

Penske probably realized some of this in the planning stages and conservatively signed up for 16k cars...

The fewer cars delivered will bode well for resale.... especially when gas moves to $4-5/gallon...

anyways, I'm just reiterating that this behavior shouldn't be surprising...

That's true.

The Knoxville, TN dealership told me that Cabrio's were not very popular, so I have a better chance to find a Cabrio than a Coupe on an Orphan list.

So would that mean Cabrio's would have a better resale?

Not necessarly. If the Cabs are not as popular, then they won't fetch as much as in a place like Florida where they would be more popular. Popularity has a lot to do with resale pricing.
