That seems like a well rounded review. The first 3 paragraphs sum up my experience.
I've never felt a lack of power for merging or keeping up with traffic.

I read it yesterday.

Their 0-60 time is nearly 2 seconds slower than some others have tested. Either this was a relatively green car that they tested, or their test driver kept his foot planted the entire time, never lifting to speed up shifts.

This is very close the review I would write, if I could write worth a darn.

As others commented, too much is being made of the speeed/power issue. I have not encountered any situations around town, back road commutes or highways here around Boston which were in the least challenging. Spirited driving using the stick or the paddles ( or a combo) has been a hoot, though it does keep you busy . In fact, there is sort of a status and bragging rights about the sheer lack of horsepower and 0-60 times. Just don't be stupid, like the writer said about the Peterbilt. If I want to go fast, our modded MINI will do 0-60 in 6.5 and the 4400lb SRT8 will thunder there in under 5.

Do the Yaris and Fit provide similar fuel economy?

Some are getting MUCH better mileage...

I don't think you can call that "similar".

Can buy lots of different salami at the butcher shop why do all these reviewers keep comparing it to baloney.
smart is still the only micro car available for sale in the USA

A balanced review. Compares well with my experiences. They missed the part about the color panels being non-dentable and exchangeable. Also the fact that Smart owners worldwide appear to have an almost cult like love of the car.

It is testimony to the simple-mindedness of today's auto journalists (a term I use with profound reservation) that they feel the need to compare the fortwo with the Yaris, Fit, Versa, et al.

My favorite line in virtually every "stupid" smart review is "for the same money you can get four doors and a back seat." Um, if I wanted those, why would I be looking at a two-seater in the first place?

Sorry, had to vent.
