Got a passion orphan and never drove without the PS as the test drive was in a cabriolet. I like it!! Great road feel but I have to agree with Jeepstrer55 in that you won't miss it at all. Engine is in the rear & absolutely no load up front.

If memory serves, the dealer there in Coral Gables has one of each for you to try out and decide for yourself. Then again, if you want leather, you'll get PS as part of the package. Either way, it's no big deal. PS is handy for easy wheel spinning & such during parking, but once rolling, the cars are the same. Nice folks at that store. Go try 'em out...

It really depends on how much you are going to be parallel parking. That's about the only time you might notice the PS and the car is still so light that if you go without it's no big deal. My car came without and I really enjoy the feel I get. It adds to the fun.

P.S.

Resale... The couple or woman that next buys your car, will want power steering.

Buying a Passion without the full load is not Smart. We have even had folks in Georgia order their cars without Air-cons to save a few bucks. ;)

The electric PS in our car is a delight to drive and on the road it feels just like manual. You can run behind a line of trucks with their rolling vortex and track "hands off". This is the best PS we have ever driven.

We run high miles and our car is a work car, (5,100 miles, in two months.)

Wife and I recommend you get the PS.

Some one else please correct me if I am wrong but I believe that the electric power steering is only enabled when low parking type speeds are encountered and once you get going at xx whatever speed then the electric power steering is not enabled so therefore it would be driving just the same as a car w/o electric power steering... Can someone who knows for sure verify or clarify?

The car I test drove did not have power steering. It didn't feel like it needed it. The salesperson said that you can only really tell the difference at highway speeds. I wanted leather so I had to get power steering anyway.
