engine/exhaust sound

Does anyone else think that the fortwo sounds like a cross between a 911 (whine) and a late model M3 (raspiness of the exhaust)? Plus there is a nice tranny whine that you get in 4th gear (only) that reminds me of straight cut gears used in the tranny's of WRC cars.

Sound

Ours is a bit too new for us to wail on it. We'll let you know. If it can be made to growl like my 911's have, I'd be delighted to see if I could drive the mileage down into the 20's.

Actually, I do think it has a lot of 911ish sounds to it.

That's a definite plus in my book. Everything I have ever owned has always had a sort of agricultural sound to it - so this is a welcome departure.

I definitely have noticed the whine in 4th only gear. Glad to hear that it is not only me that is hearing it. I was beginning to worry.

My Passion is right at the 1,000 mile break in period and I think it sounds better (louder) than it did at first. I want to hear my vehicles!

As a 911 owner I can only say the my smart does not sound in the least like a rhaspy Porsche flat six (maybe a Peugeot 901...lol). I was thinking the other day when my wife drove off that our smart had a really whimpy putter-putter sound. However, I sure didn't expect my little 1 L power house of fun to sound beefy. We bought the car because it was cool & my wife sure loves her car. I only wish she would let me drive it more often.

Let me clarify... a water-cooled 911... heh.

A Little Rocket Wired For Sound.

Put it in "D" tromp it down to the floor, and hold it there. The rev-limiter will do the shifting at about 6,500 RPM.

Not for the Faint of heart... But nor was the Chamber Maid. ;)

I of course would never do such a thing!

A2Jack

BTW. Don't try this at home.
