I ordered the European roll bar and it's being delivered today - now I need the courage to remove the old roll bar cover and install the new one....
The bungee cords work but I decided to install them 'properly' after reading a post here about the cords pulling something off the side of the Smart.
Dave Green (parts manager - Santa Barbara, CA) I thank you!!!

My European covers should be here within the week. Please let me know if there are any "gotchas" or if everything in the switch is straightforward.

Good luck, then! You are "my" guinea pig in this effort. The color is great until I get a scratch.

John, you can do this. I did it and I'm the old gimp who still hasn't gotten her led light in because my arms aren't strong enough to pull off the **** steering wheel enclosure! - sheureka

Sheureka - I'll see if I can provide pointers on how to bend which direction to cleanly disengage the hooks.

I know I can swap the covers, I was just wondering if there was something that would've been nice to know ahead of time.

Me again - did it! Getting the old one off was indeed the hardest part. The new one was easy to snap on - just watch the little tabs and make sure they're "tucked in" then just squeeze the whole thing together.
I just used a screwdriver to work my way from the outside towards the middle and eventually it came apart. Just a little scratch but the new cover hides it.
Took about 15 minutes and the wind deflector is much tighter now so I am off to test it out since its 73 degrees here and the sun is still shining!!!
Good luck!
